Frequently Asked Questions

When is PF registration mandatory for a business?

PF registration is mandatory for establishments with 20 or more employees. However, smaller establishments can voluntarily register. Once registered, compliance is mandatory regardless of employee count dropping below 20.

What is the PF contribution rate?

Both employer and employee contribute 12% of basic salary + dearness allowance to PF. The employer's 12% is split between EPF (3.67%) and EPS (8.33%), plus additional contributions to EDLI and admin charges.

What is the ESIC wage ceiling for coverage?

Employees earning gross wages up to ₹21,000 per month (₹25,000 for persons with disability) are covered under ESIC. The employee contributes 0.75% and employer contributes 3.25% of gross wages.

What are the new Labour Codes and when will they be effective?

The Government has consolidated 29 central labour laws into 4 Labour Codes (Wages, Industrial Relations, Social Security, Occupational Safety). They are enacted but implementation date is yet to be notified by states.
